What has been your favorite ALEC class and why?

Lincoln, Neb. – Tyler Quick has been selected to represent the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication as a student ambassador for the 2020 – 2021 academic year.

What is one action you have taken to connect on campus?

I studied abroad in Rwanda with the ALEC Department and I am a member of Sigma Alpha Sorority. Off campus, I have had two internships. One was with the Nebraska Corn Board where I worked in communications and market development. The other was with Gowan USA where I worked in agricultural chemical sales.

The Rural Fellows program is expanding in 2021, with up to 200 students and 100 communities to be accepted! Rachel Williss, a junior agricultural and environmental sciences communication major at Nebraska, photographs Robert Diffendal, professor emeritus in the School of Natural Resources, during her fellowship this summer in Pawnee County.

The IANR News Student Spotlight is on Chandra Spangler an Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication – Strategic Communication Option  student. Chandra talks about why she chose UNL and her major.

Jared Dehaan, CASNR student in Sports Media with a double minor in Agriculture Communications and Agribusiness, talks about his experience at UNL and how his ALEC classes have had an impact on how he views diversity and inclusiveness. 

Kayla Mues is from Cambridge, Nebraska and comes from a long line of agriculturalists. In December, after three semesters at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, she graduated with an associate degree in agricultural education and transferred to the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and the ALEC department for the next two years.
