Despite the challenges we have all faced this year, the ALEC Department would like to recognize all that we have to be grateful for and pool our resources to give back to the campus community. The Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication department is hosting a Food Drive for the Husker Pantry!

We will be accepting donations in 143 Filley Hall from Monday, October 12 - Thursday, November 5.

“IANR Media, Lisa speaking.” Anyone who has called Lisa Jasa’s office would recognize those familiar words spoken with her kind voice.

Lisa Brown Jasa, 63, former communications specialist and editor of Nebraska Extension’s CropWatch newsletter, died Sept. 28 at the Monarch, due to pancreatic cancer. Jasa became a communications specialist in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Department of Agricultural Communications in the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources in 1985, where she edited Nebraska Extension publications and worked on other writing projects. Dr. Susan Fritz joined NU’s Central Administration office in 2011 and has served as executive vice president and provost since 2012. Fritz began her university career in 1989 as an instructor in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication, and went on to be ALEC's department head. She has held progressive leadership roles since.

Congratulations to Dr. Helen Fagan for receiving the Excellence in Education award during the 2020 Inspire Awards. The Inspire Awards celebrate women’s leadership in the greater Lincoln community and were announced last week during the annual awards presentation.

Helen Fagan, ALEC Assitant Professor of Practice, has been selected as one of the top five finalists for the 2020 Woman of the Year award!

Chancellor Ronnie Green, has expanded to include Colette M. Yellow Robe, a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe and academic retention specialist for TRIO Programs, as a new voice providing guidance into the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s journey toward addressing anti-racism and racial equity.

Lincoln, Neb. —Dr. Lloyd Bell, emeritus professor in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication, has announced his retirement after a 45-year career at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
