Christina Franklin, ALEC Office Associate, was elected to be the President-Elect of UNOPA (University of Nebraska Office Professionals Association). Christina will serve in this role until June 2021 when she will then become the UNOPA President for 2021-2022.

Dr. Helen Fagan, director of leadership engagement for the Rural Futures Institute and assistant professor of practice of agricultural leadership, education and communication, is the recipient of this year’s campus award. Fagan has a long history of activism and is currently working with the Lincoln Police Department to reform policies and to challenge implicit biases. She also works with Nebraska’s rural areas to build stronger communities through inclusive leadership.

The program is important to both the leadership mentors and mentees, said Lindsay Hastings, research director for the program. So when COVID-19 paused many in-person activities, she and others figured out a way to keep the program going.
