In May, a group of students led by Dr. LJ McElravy and Dr. Nathan Conner traveled to Rwanda to learn about the history, culture, agricultural and environmental practices of the region. In addition, the group explored and studied how arts-based digital storytelling techniques can be used for engaging public audiences in positive change movements.

Courtney Albrecht, ALEC Senior, will be joining 8 other University of Nebraska-Lincoln Rural Futures Institute’s students with the Student Serviceship program this summer. The RFI program will send students out in the rural communities to help with community improvement projects as part of their summer mentorship program. It will connect students with mentors from the community to complete strategic, future-focused projects.
