OGS Workshop: Assessing Risk in Your Research to Communicate Confidently (Zoom)

Dr. Laura Young will walk through how to academic experts can conduct a communication risk assessment of their research with the goal of becoming comfortable and confident to talk to the media and others about their work (regardless if their work is ‘controversial’ in some media coverage). This interactive workshop will help participants identify their own ‘loopholes’ to prepare them to speak confidently about what they do in an effort to bridge the science communication gap between research and the public. While science is one focal point, those individuals in the humanities will also benefit from learning how to navigate communication risk assessments and building communicative bridges between academia and popular audiences. Attendees should come with their research agenda top of mind to get the most out of the experience. The workshop is open to post-docs, graduate and professional students, and staff and faculty. It will be hosted on Zoom, but it will not be recorded.
