Monty Larsen serves as an ALEC Out-State Faculty Member in northeast Nebraska. He teaches courses in leadership and field experiences and works with student teachers and beginning Agriscience, STS, and STEM teachers from his out-state office at Haskell Agricultural Lab at Concord, NE.
Monty helps craft professional development opportunities for Nebraska teachers, interacts with students considering teaching, assists with the Nebraska Beginning Teacher program, and the Nebraska Career Development Events. Additionally, he serves on the State Teach Ag Results (STAR) Committee.
Education
Larsen earned his bachelor's degree in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, later returned to UNL to achieve his non-traditional agricultural education teaching certificate, before earning a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Wayne State College. From 2001-2022, he served as an agricultural educator and FFA advisor in the Rock County, Butte, and Stuart Nebraska school systems. Before coming to UNL in 2022, Larsen served in several leadership positions within the Nebraska Agricultural Educators Association.
