Myunghwa (Michelle) Kang

Dr. Kang currently teaches Introduction to Tourism; Hospitality and Tourism Marketing; and Managerial Hospitality Accounting.
Research
Her research is in marketing and information technology in tourism. Specifically, Dr. Kang focuses on designing and managing experiencescapes in travel destinations and understanding how emerging mobile information technologies and social media can support the creation and management of social and emotional experiences for tourists. Dr. Kang also researches on organizational adoption and use of information technologies to effectively communicate and market experiential aspects and evaluate technology-mediated tourist experiences in terms of mindfulness, emotions, and social presence.
About
Dr. Kang is an associate professor in Hospitality, Restaurant, and Tourism Management in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication. Dr. Kang earned her Ph.D. in Tourism from Texas A&M University and M.S. in Tourism and Hospitality Management from Purdue University. Dr. Kang received her B.S. in history from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea. Dr. Kang has professional industry experience as a director in marketing and business planning in the tourism and hospitality industry. She also has worked with national, state, and city tourism offices for years.
