Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication Option

The Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication Option prepares students for careers in communications, advocacy and public service roles in the agricultural, natural resources and environmental disciplines. The option provides students with a broad education combining skills and knowledge in agricultural, environmental and natural resources sciences, the social sciences and mass communications. Graduates are also qualified to pursue careers in public relations, and public service in government agencies, nonprofit and private organizations.

The agricultural and environmental sciences communication option provides an introduction to the areas of competence required of a professional communicator.

The AESC faculty and staff are committed to educating students to communicate clearly, accurately and ethically about the important issues related to agriculture and natural resources. The faculty and staff of the UNL Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources are focused on the mission of learning and educating others about agriculture and natural resources. That mission is for the public good, so the world’s growing population can have enough safe, nutritious food to eat, grown sustainably with respect for the people, animals and natural resources that make the food possible.
