Sophia Svanda is a freshman Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communications major at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. She grew up in a small town just east of Lincoln in Cass County called Nehawka, Nebraska and graduated from Conestoga Jr./Sr. High School.

Growing up in a small-town Sophia has always been around agriculture but began to be more interested in agricultural topics after joining her local FFA chapter in high school. She is passionate about advocating for agriculture and enjoys spending time learning and sharing her knowledge of new topics with her peers. These passions and interests are what led her to become an AESC major at UNL.

Sophia also enjoys staying active and spends a lot of time playing or watching sports. At UNL she is involved in numerous activities including the Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow club as well as the Gamma Phi Beta Sorority. She enjoys hanging out with her roommates, sorority sisters and friends, as well as her family back home.
