NHRI Leadership Mentors

College students serving as Leadership Mentors in NHRI are among the top leaders at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Their acceptance to NHRI indicates their high-level of  human relations capital  (the ability to develop positive relationships). Most Leadership Mentors take ALEC 102, a UNL course taught by NHRI's Associate Director, Hannah Sunderman, that focuses on the development of positive relationships, as well as identifying and developing strengths in others. In addition to their NHRI training, Leadership Mentors are also active in many other campus leadership organizations and honoraries:

NHRI students have been:

  • Homecoming King or Queen
  • Student Government Executive Officers
  • Inducted into Senior Honorary Societies
  • Officers in Greek organizations
  • Highly involved in other campus organizations
