Karen Cannon


Karen teaches courses in public relations and strategic communications.


Her research interests include public and policy-maker understanding of agriculture and natural resources, message framing and scholarship of teaching and learning.


Karen earned her bachelor's degree in agriculture and natural resources journalism and her master's in agricultural extension education, both from Colorado State University; and her doctorate in philosophy from the University of Florida. She worked as a public affairs specialist at the USDA in Washington, D.C., and as a communications specialist management trainee at Swift & Co., in Greeley, Colo., and as beef safety information manager at the National Cattlemen's Beef Association in Denver.
